This was once the lid of a hinged wooden box that would otherwise be thrown away. The bottom was crumbling, the hinges rusty, and it was unfit to use. The lid of the box, however, appealed to me as something salvageable and ready to be transformed. The rustic look of the wood gave me the idea of a barn door, and friends suggested the Palomino, which seemed ideal -- its light coloring a perfect contrast for the barn's dark interior.
